Advertising on WoundsAfrica

The beta-version of WoundsAfrica went online in May 2022. Our aim is to become the primary channel for delivering information about wound care treatment and products to healthcare professionals on the continent.

Many wound care companies are setting up sites in Africa right now- mainly in Southern Africa, where there are maybe fewer logistical hinders, and marketing is easier.

Over 1,2 billion people are living in Africa. The incidence of wounds, both acute and chronic, is very high. This translates into an enormous market for wound care products. If you would like to introduce a product in Africa, there is no more efficient method than advertising on our site. Moreover, we have a pricing policy that is very low compared to other advertisement channels. Over time we will adjust the advertising price with us to that of different media - but for the first year, we offer this at a very competitive price. Note that an advertisement package with us includes benefits like having several banners on the site simultaneously, being visible all year round, and being able to change the content as often as you like. For more information, see the section on what is included below.

For many people on the continent, standard of care products are not available due to minimal financial resources. WoundsAfrica aims to serve the needs of healthcare professionals working in an environment where most modern products are available, as well as those who work at off-the-grid clinics where maybe only cotton gauze is available. For companies who are sponsors or are buying advertisement space with us, it is important to keep this in mind. Suppose you, for example, are a company selling certified medical-grade honey for the treatment of wounds. In that case, you will have to accept that we mention that regular household honey can be used when nothing else is available. Suppose you are a company selling negative pressure pumps and equipment. In that case, you will have to accept that we mention that one can improvise with other suction pumps to make a negative pressure unit when nothing else is available. We intend to keep a good balance there, and we believe that with a bit of goodwill from these companies, we can create a site that serves the needs of all caregivers on the continent, no matter where they work. Please also refer to our advertising policy at the end of this page.

Our pricing policy is straightforward:

  • We only have 12 months advertising packages, i.e., it is not possible to buy advertising space for only a few months. If your advertisement package starts, for example, 01. October 2021, then it will expire on the 31. September 2022

  • We have two price categories:  5000 Euro/ year excl. VAT for large companies with many products in the portfolio and 2500 Euro/year excl. VAT for smaller companies with a limited number of products.

  • Both packages contain the same number of spaces reserved for adverts.

We have seen no other advertising package that offers similar benefits:

  • 24/7 advertising spaces visible throughout 12 months.

  • You can change the content of your advertisement as often as you like. This is a considerable advantage compared to a static page in a wound care journal.

  • Your advertisement is placed where it correlates best with the relevant chapters on wound care on the website. Moreover, your company/products will be visible on our homepage (front page of our site)

  • Of course, the advertisement's content is entirely up to you – it can be text, pictures, or a video. You decide whether you would like it to link to somewhere else.

  • Six banners in "billboard" format (900x250 px) – this can be integrated as a rolling slideshow. This means you can have more than one image on a billboard- you can have as many as you like ( though more than maybe five images in a slideshow are not recommended).

  • Two newsletters/ year which are dedicated to your company/your products. You are responsible for the content of these newsletters, which should not be longer than the equivalent of 2 A4 pages.

  • Your company's logo with a link placed at the end of 5 chapters relevant to your company/products.

  • All images of your products that WoundsAfrica places on the website are linked to your webpage.

  • If the formats above do not fit well for your advertisement- let us know. We can usually accommodate other formats.

  • We automatically adjust the advertisement to fit well on mobile- or tablet format.

The billboard 970x 250 is an ideal brand-centric ad format. It is a wide horizontal banner ad that we place both on the top and bottom of our pages. It is prominent, eye-catching, and easy to place on the pages.

If you consider advertising on our site -send us a short email by pressing the button above, and we will contact you within one working day.

WoundsAfrica Network Advertising Policy

WoundsAfrica accepts advertising on the WoundsAfrica Network from third parties ("Advertisers"), which may include third-party banners, badges, contextual advertising, and content created or provided by an Advertiser (collectively referred to as "Advertisements" or "Advertising"). In addition, as used in this Policy, the terms "Advertising" and "Advertisements" include third-party banners, modules, links, microsites, native advertisements, and other content provided by or on behalf of Advertisers.

The Advertiser is responsible for the accuracy and objectivity of their Advertising. WoundsAfrica has established the following guidelines to govern various aspects of Advertising on properties within the WoundsAfrica Network (each a "WoundsAfrica Property"), which include websites and mobile applications directed to consumers, which we refer to in this Policy as the "WoundsAfrica Consumer Properties," and websites and mobile applications directed to healthcare professionals, which we refer to as the "WoundsAfrica Professional Properties.

The guidelines in this Policy govern issues like acceptance of Advertisements by WoundsAfrica, how Advertisements are displayed on the WoundsAfrica Network, and the removal of Advertisements from the WoundsAfrica Network. WoundsAfrica has sole and absolute discretion concerning interpretation and enforcement of this Policy and all other issues associated with Advertising on the WoundsAfrica Network. WoundsAfrica may change this Policy at any time in its sole discretion by posting a revised policy to the applicable WoundsAfrica Property.

  1. WoundsAfrica has sole discretion for determining the types of Advertising that will be accepted and displayed on the WoundsAfrica Network, and under no circumstances will WoundsAfrica's acceptance of any Advertisement be considered an endorsement of the product(s) and/or service(s) advertised or for the company that advertises, manufactures, distributes, or promotes the products or services.

  2. There are certain categories of Advertisements that WoundsAfrica will not knowingly permit on the WoundsAfrica Network at any time. These categories include but are not limited to the following:

    • alcohol

    • weapons, firearms, ammunition, or fireworks

    • gambling

    • tobacco use of any kind

    • the simulation of news or an emergency

    • material that directly advertises products to or is intended to attract children under the age of 13

    • media or messages for or that reference "M" rated video games or content

    • unreasonable, unlikely, or extraordinary product or service claims

    • media messages or imagery that strobe or flash

    • media or messages that contain unsubstantiated "miracle" weight loss or other exaggerated claims of cure

    • advertising units that mimic computer functions or deceptively indicate a computer or other function that would be reasonable to the average user to assume as a reason to click the unit

  3. WoundsAfrica recognizes and maintains a distinct separation between Advertising and WoundsAfrica's editorial content. All Advertising on the WoundsAfrica Network will be clearly and unambiguously identified. WoundsAfrica will not allow any Advertising on the WoundsAfrica Network that is not identified with the label of "Advertisement," "From Our Advertiser," "Information From Industry," or a similar designation indicating that the Advertising is being provided by or on behalf of an Advertiser.

  4. A click on an Advertisement may only link the end user to the Advertiser's site or relevant sponsored content area on a WoundsAfrica Property.

  5. WoundsAfrica retains the exclusive right to determine how any and all search results for specific information by keyword or topic are displayed on a WoundsAfrica Property based on WoundsAfrica delivered search results. The content listed in search results is displayed with its source, e.g., "WoundsAfrica News" or "Journal Article." If Advertising appears in the search results, it is labeled as such. In addition, WoundsAfrica provides a separate area on the search results page of specific WoundsAfrica Consumer Properties, which only display Advertising.

  6. As described in the "Ads by Google" hyper link in the Ads by Google section on relevant WoundsAfrica Consumer Properties Search pages, these "Ads by Google" are Advertisements that have been purchased by companies that want to have links to their websites appear adjacent to search results in response to specific terms.

  7. WoundsAfrica reserves the right to decide at any time in its sole discretion whether it will accept, reject, cancel, or remove Advertising from the WoundsAfrica Network. WoundsAfrica cannot provide any assurances that Advertisements will perform without error on all platforms, including websites and mobile applications.

  8. It is the Advertiser's responsibility to comply with all domestic and foreign laws and regulations applicable to its Advertising within the WoundsAfrica Network (and to include all legally required legends, disclosures, and statements in such Advertising), including without limitation the current FDA guidelines for Direct to Physician (DTP) and Direct to Consumer (DTC) advertising. WoundsAfrica will not monitor compliance with such laws and regulations. However, WoundsAfrica reserves the right to review all Advertising for compliance with applicable laws and regulations. If WoundsAfrica becomes aware of any breach or potential breach of any applicable law or regulation or of these guidelines, WoundsAfrica may remove the Advertising from the WoundsAfrica Network.

  9. No Advertising on the WoundsAfrica Network shall include any pixels, tags, flash containers, or any other type of information collection software code (any such pixel, tag, code, or device a "Pixel") or shall place any beacons, cookies, or other information collection devices on the browsers of users of the WoundsAfrica Network unless expressly approved in writing by WoundsAfrica. If WoundsAfrica approves the inclusion of a Pixel in an Advertisement, then unless and only to the extent that such approval contains an express exception, (i) Advertiser may not use such Pixel to collect any personally-identifiable information (PII) concerning any WoundsAfrica user, (ii) no such Pixel can be flash or object-based, (iii) the Pixel can be blocked and any cookie placed can be deleted by using browser settings, (iv) Advertiser will not link any non-PII that it collects to any PII that it may have from any other source, and (v) Advertiser will not update any existing profile or create any profile in its database based on any data collected on the WoundsAfrica site, including the fact that someone is a WoundsAfrica user or any information derived from the information in the referring URL.
